Tree removal and pruning in Laverton, done properly
In Laverton (3028) a quote is easy to fit in, and the crew arrives with everything on the truck. Tree and palm removal, hazard pruning, canopy lifting and crown thinning are the bulk of what we do here, all under a qualified arborist and fully insured.
The nearest suburbs we also cover are Williams Landing (2 km), Seabrook (3 km), Altona (4 km), so a job in Laverton is often paired with one next door. 13 of the reviews on this site are from customers in Williams Landing, Seabrook and Altona, next door to Laverton. Going by those reviews, the work around Laverton has mostly been tree removal (6), clean-up and mulching (3) and tree pruning (1).
Palms are their own job. They are heavy for their size, the fronds and seed pods are a mess, and the trunk fibre blunts saws. We take them down in short sections with the rigging set up so nothing lands where it should not, and we take the trunk away rather than leaving you with something that will not burn and will not rot.
Pruning is about the right cut, not the most cuts. We remove deadwood and hazard limbs, lift the canopy off roofs, sheds and driveways, thin a dense crown so wind moves through it instead of pushing on it, and clear power-line and neighbour boundaries. Trees pruned properly stay healthy and need less attention; trees hacked back sprout weak regrowth and become a bigger problem in Laverton gardens within a couple of seasons.

A tip from Api
A tree that has started to lean, or has a crack opening at a fork, is not a tree to wait on in Laverton’s spring winds. Ring for a look — the assessment is free and most of the time the news is better than you fear.

Do you need a permit to remove a tree in Laverton?
Homeowners in Laverton ask this more than anything else, so here is Wyndham’s rule as the council publishes it.
Wyndham’s Community Amenity Local Law has no clause about removing or pruning trees on private property, so for most exotic garden trees no council permit is involved — the council’s own local-law review says as much.
Native vegetation is different: a planning permit is normally required to remove, destroy or prune it under Clause 52.17 of the Wyndham Planning Scheme, unless an exemption applies — for example a lot under 4,000 m² whose title carries no tree-protection restriction.
Wyndham is also building a Significant Tree Register, and trees in a heritage or vegetation overlay have their own controls. The council’s planning team on 1300 023 411 will confirm what sits on a particular title.

Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees
A canopy tree is a tree more than 5 m tall, with a trunk circumference over 0.5 m at 1.4 m above the ground and a canopy at least 4 m across. In a residential zone a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary.
Dead trees, emergency and safety works, maintenance pruning and listed weed species are exempt; councils usually condition a permit on planting a replacement canopy tree, and most decide these through VicSmart in about ten business days.
What this means for you: tell Api where the tree sits on the block and he will tell you whether a permit is needed before anything is cut — and where one is, we can prepare the arborist assessment the application needs.

Laverton Tree Removal & Pruning — common questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Laverton?
Usually not for an exotic tree in a back garden: Wyndham has no local law covering trees on private land. A planning permit is needed for native vegetation (unless the lot is under 4,000 m² with no tree controls on the title), for anything on the Significant Tree Register, and for a canopy tree near the front or rear boundary under the state-wide canopy-tree clause. Across Victoria, Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees also applies since 15 September 2025: a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary. Api checks both at the quote.
How much does tree removal cost in Laverton?
Height, spread, what is underneath, chipper access and whether the stump is included — those five things set the price, and Api sets it in person, free. A Laverton quote is a written figure, not an hourly rate that grows on the day.
How long does it take?
Usually inside a fortnight, sooner if the tree is dangerous. We do not double-book: when the crew is in Laverton, it is on your job.
Can you get in if the access is tight?
Yes. Sectional dismantling with rigging is designed for exactly that: a tree comes down piece by piece in a courtyard without touching a wall.
What happens to the waste?
We chip the branches, cut the trunk into manageable rounds, and take the lot away unless you want firewood or mulch left. The yard is raked and blown before we go.
Can you save the tree instead of removing it?
Usually the answer is yes, and it is the first thing Api considers. Deadwooding, a reduction or a lift fixes most problems and costs less than removal. He will tell you if the tree is beyond that.
