Bamboo removal and yucca removal in Albanvale, done properly
Running bamboo in a Albanvale garden is not a plant, it is a system: the culms you see are fed by rhizomes that can travel metres under paths, fences and slabs. We remove the whole system, not just the top, and where you want to keep a clump for privacy we contain it so it stays where it is.
The nearest suburbs we also cover are Kings Park (about a kilometre), Burnside (about a kilometre), Cairnlea (2 km), so a job in Albanvale is often paired with one next door. One of the reviews on this site is from Albanvale customers. Going by those reviews, the work in Albanvale has mostly been tree removal (1) and clean-up and mulching (1).
A yucca removal starts with cutting the heads and trunks down and bagging the leaves — they are needle-sharp and full of sap. Then the root ball is dug out. On a mature clump that can be a metre across and half a metre deep, wrapped around pipes and pressing on footings, so we dig by hand where anything is close and take it out in sections.
A yucca is cut down first — heads bagged, trunks sectioned — and then the root ball is excavated. A mature clump has a root mass the size of a wheelbarrow, often wrapped around a sewer line or pressing on a footing, so around anything that matters we dig by hand and lift it out in pieces.

A tip from Api
Never put bamboo or yucca offcuts in a compost heap or a green bin you will empty on the garden: both root from fragments. We take everything away for exactly that reason.

Do you need a permit to remove a tree in Albanvale?
Homeowners in Albanvale ask this more than anything else, so here is Brimbank’s rule as the council publishes it.
Brimbank’s position is that trees on private property are the owner’s to look after; the council does not maintain them and treats disputes about neighbours’ trees as civil matters.
The exception is the Significant Tree Register: trees valued for size, age, health or cultural and environmental importance are recorded there and protected under the Brimbank Local Laws, and interfering with one draws an infringement per tree.
The state canopy-tree clause applies in Brimbank’s residential zones, so check the distance to the boundaries before assuming no permit is needed.

Across Victoria since 15 September 2025
Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees
A canopy tree is a tree more than 5 m tall, with a trunk circumference over 0.5 m at 1.4 m above the ground and a canopy at least 4 m across. In a residential zone a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary.
Dead trees, emergency and safety works, maintenance pruning and listed weed species are exempt; councils usually condition a permit on planting a replacement canopy tree, and most decide these through VicSmart in about ten business days.
What this means for you: tell Api where the tree sits on the block and he will tell you whether a permit is needed before anything is cut — and where one is, we can prepare the arborist assessment the application needs.

Albanvale Bamboo Removal & Yucca Removal — common questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Albanvale?
Only if the tree is on Brimbank’s Significant Tree Register, which the local laws protect, or if it is a canopy tree near the front or rear boundary under the state-wide clause. Ordinary garden trees on private land are the owner’s responsibility to manage. Across Victoria, Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees also applies since 15 September 2025: a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary. Api checks both at the quote.
How much does bamboo & yucca cost in Albanvale?
Size, spread and access. Removing the roots is most of the work, so a plant that has been in the ground for years costs more than one planted recently — but it is a one-off cost, where cutting it back is a yearly one. Call 0422 856 090 for a free quote.
How long does it take?
Usually within a week or two of the quote. Bamboo is best removed when the ground is soft enough to dig — autumn to spring in Albanvale.
Can you get in if the access is tight?
Yes — tight access is the normal case for this work and the quote allows for it.
What happens to the waste?
Every piece goes on the truck — tops chipped, roots whole. None of it stays because all of it can regrow.
Will the bamboo or yucca come back after you remove it?
Cut off at the ground, both come back within months — that is why so many people in Albanvale are on their second attempt. Dug out at the root, they do not. We rake through for fragments before we backfill, and stand behind the result.
