Bamboo removal and yucca removal in Parwan, done properly
If the bamboo in your Parwan garden is coming up in the lawn, or the yucca down the side of the house is now taller than the gutter, the fix is the same: get the roots out. We do it by hand around pipes, footings and pavers, by machine where there is room, and we take every fragment away.
The nearest suburbs we also cover are Hopetoun Park (6 km), Maddingley (6 km), Exford (7 km), so a job in Parwan is often paired with one next door. 2 of the reviews on this site are from customers in Hopetoun Park, Maddingley and Exford, next door to Parwan.
For bamboo we cut the culms to the ground and chip them, then excavate the rhizome mass — by hand along fences and pipes, by machine where there is room — following runners out to their ends. Clumping bamboo lifts out as one root ball; running bamboo means chasing rhizomes, sometimes under a path or into the neighbour’s side. What comes out goes on the truck, not into your green bin.
Bamboo removal is mostly digging. After the culms are cut and chipped, the rhizome mat is lifted — a clumping species comes out as one root ball; a running species means following every runner to its end, sometimes under a path or into next door. We rake the bed for fragments before backfilling because a missed piece is a new plant.

Do you need a permit to remove a tree in Parwan?
Homeowners in Parwan ask this more than anything else, so here is Moorabool’s rule as the council publishes it.
Moorabool puts it bluntly on its permit page: most trees and vegetation require a planning permit to be destroyed, removed or lopped. Native vegetation falls under Victoria’s native vegetation removal regulations, which usually mean a permit and an offset, supported by a Native Vegetation Removal Report from the state tool.
Other trees can be protected for local heritage, amenity or visual significance, or because they contribute to the waterways and catchments — the Werribee River and Lerderderg run through the shire — so the overlays on a title matter more here than in the suburbs.
The residential zones of Bacchus Marsh, Darley and Maddingley also carry the state canopy-tree clause. The shire’s planning team is on (03) 5366 7100.

Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees
A canopy tree is a tree more than 5 m tall, with a trunk circumference over 0.5 m at 1.4 m above the ground and a canopy at least 4 m across. In a residential zone a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary.
Dead trees, emergency and safety works, maintenance pruning and listed weed species are exempt; councils usually condition a permit on planting a replacement canopy tree, and most decide these through VicSmart in about ten business days.
What this means for you: tell Api where the tree sits on the block and he will tell you whether a permit is needed before anything is cut — and where one is, we can prepare the arborist assessment the application needs.

What clients across the Bacchus Marsh district say
Parwan Bamboo Removal & Yucca Removal — common questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Parwan?
Often, yes: Moorabool’s own guidance is that most trees and vegetation require a planning permit to be removed, destroyed or lopped — native vegetation under the state regulations, with an offset, and other trees where heritage, amenity or waterway overlays apply. The state canopy-tree clause applies in Bacchus Marsh’s residential zones too. Check with the shire before anything is cut. Across Victoria, Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees also applies since 15 September 2025: a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary. Api checks both at the quote.
How much does bamboo & yucca cost in Parwan?
For bamboo, the area and how far it has run; for yucca, the size of the clump and the access. A young yucca in an open yard is quick; a mature bamboo screen under paving is a day’s digging. Free quotes, in person, and every piece taken away.
How long does it take?
A morning for yuccas, a day for bamboo. We do not leave a half-dug bed overnight.
Can you get in if the access is tight?
Yes — most yuccas in Parwan are in a side passage a metre wide, and most bamboo is along a fence. We dig by hand where machines will not go.
What happens to the waste?
Chipped where we can, bagged where we cannot, and removed. The bed is raked and backfilled ready for whatever you plant next.
Will the bamboo or yucca come back after you remove it?
Cut off at the ground, both come back within months — that is why so many people in Parwan are on their second attempt. Dug out at the root, they do not. We rake through for fragments before we backfill, and stand behind the result.
