Bamboo removal and yucca removal in Manor Lakes, done properly
Aps Tree Removal has dug bamboo and yucca out of Manor Lakes gardens for more than 16 years, from a single yucca lifting the front path to a bamboo grove that has crossed two fences. Api quotes it free and explains exactly how the roots will be dealt with, because that is the whole job.
The nearest suburbs we also cover are Mambourin (2 km), Wyndham Vale (3 km), Werribee (7 km), so a job in Manor Lakes is often paired with one next door. 23 of the reviews on this site are from customers in Mambourin, Wyndham Vale and Werribee, next door to Manor Lakes. Going by those reviews, the work around Manor Lakes has mostly been clean-up and mulching (8), tree removal (7) and tree pruning (1).
A yucca is cut down first — heads bagged, trunks sectioned — and then the root ball is excavated. A mature clump has a root mass the size of a wheelbarrow, often wrapped around a sewer line or pressing on a footing, so around anything that matters we dig by hand and lift it out in pieces.
For bamboo we cut the culms to the ground and chip them, then excavate the rhizome mass — by hand along fences and pipes, by machine where there is room — following runners out to their ends. Clumping bamboo lifts out as one root ball; running bamboo means chasing rhizomes, sometimes under a path or into the neighbour’s side. What comes out goes on the truck, not into your green bin.
Bamboo Removal & Yucca Removal in Manor Lakes — what we do
Bamboo removal
Culms chipped, rhizomes excavated and followed to the end.

Pipes & paving protected
Hand digging around footings, sewer lines and pavers.
A tip from Api
A yucca that has grown against a wall or near the sewer line should be dug out by hand, not pulled with a machine — the roots are wrapped around whatever is near them, and pulling breaks pipes. It is slower and it is the right way.

Do you need a permit to remove a tree in Manor Lakes?
The rule that applies to a tree in a Manor Lakes garden is the Wyndham Planning Scheme — here is what it says.
Wyndham’s Community Amenity Local Law has no clause about removing or pruning trees on private property, so for most exotic garden trees no council permit is involved — the council’s own local-law review says as much.
Native vegetation is different: a planning permit is normally required to remove, destroy or prune it under Clause 52.17 of the Wyndham Planning Scheme, unless an exemption applies — for example a lot under 4,000 m² whose title carries no tree-protection restriction.
Wyndham is also building a Significant Tree Register, and trees in a heritage or vegetation overlay have their own controls. The council’s planning team on 1300 023 411 will confirm what sits on a particular title.

Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees
A canopy tree is a tree more than 5 m tall, with a trunk circumference over 0.5 m at 1.4 m above the ground and a canopy at least 4 m across. In a residential zone a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary.
Dead trees, emergency and safety works, maintenance pruning and listed weed species are exempt; councils usually condition a permit on planting a replacement canopy tree, and most decide these through VicSmart in about ten business days.
What this means for you: tell Api where the tree sits on the block and he will tell you whether a permit is needed before anything is cut — and where one is, we can prepare the arborist assessment the application needs.

Manor Lakes Bamboo Removal & Yucca Removal — common questions
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Manor Lakes?
Usually not for an exotic tree in a back garden: Wyndham has no local law covering trees on private land. A planning permit is needed for native vegetation (unless the lot is under 4,000 m² with no tree controls on the title), for anything on the Significant Tree Register, and for a canopy tree near the front or rear boundary under the state-wide canopy-tree clause. Across Victoria, Clause 52.37 Canopy Trees also applies since 15 September 2025: a planning permit is needed to remove, destroy or lop one in a residential zone if the lot is vacant, or, where there is an existing house, if any part of the trunk is within 6 m of the narrowest street frontage or 4.5 m of the rear boundary. Api checks both at the quote.
How much does bamboo & yucca cost in Manor Lakes?
On the size of the root system and how it can be reached. Api quotes free and includes taking every piece away, which is part of doing it properly.
How long does it take?
Usually within a week or two of the quote. We finish a bed on the day we open it.
Can you get in if the access is tight?
Yes — most yuccas in Manor Lakes are in a side passage a metre wide, and most bamboo is along a fence. We dig by hand where machines will not go.
What happens to the waste?
Taken away in full. Bamboo chip is not left as mulch — it is too easy for a piece of rhizome to hide in it.
Will the bamboo or yucca come back after you remove it?
A properly excavated yucca does not regrow. Running bamboo occasionally tries from a fragment, which is why we follow the rhizomes to their ends rather than just clearing the bed, and why we tell you what a stray shoot looks like.
